Packaged AC has only one unit and all the parts (evaporator, condenser, compressor) are included in it. Packaged model is usually located on the roof, while one component of a split-system is placed outdoors and another one indoors.

Despite the fact that central systems should be installed with the help of a professional and may require some additional payments, these units are more energy saving, then the conventional ones.
